Patchwork

This piece grew from a sketch that was just for me, when I had to express my anxieties (hello coronavirus + pregnant + 3 boys ages 6 and under + caregiver role!!). I kept looking at it and felt like there was something special there I wanted to bring to the surface. Then, before the virtual studies and zoom meetings and zillion requests from little people, I found myself painting a patchwork over top. I felt lighter, but still respectful of those anxious feelings I felt, so I made a point to let them emerge through the soft top layer. I love this patchwork of emotions. When I look at it I see the spaces I was able to allow for myself to feel the things I needed to feel, without self-judgement.
